Robert (Bob) A. Becofske, 76, of Melbourne Beach, died Friday, March 10, 2017 with his family at his side. He was born to the late Bernard (Ben) and Bernice (Bea) Becofske on September 3, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois. Bob graduated from Loyola Academy in 1958 and received his BA degree in Business Administration from St. Joseph College in 1962. He married the late Harriet Nowak in 1964 and they lived together in Northbrook, Illinois, until her death in 1995. Bob retired to Melbourne Beach, Florida in 1997, where he met and married his surviving wife, Leslie, in 1999. Bob worked for Abbott Laboratories in North Chicago until his retirement in late 1995. He headed up the team who built the Order Processing System for Abbott in the early days of computer software. Bob was a lifelong Catholic and he was a member of a men’s breakfast club called The ROMEO’S, who met every Thursday morning. Bob is survived by his wife Leslie and his children Kathryn (Todd) Wickert, Littleton, Colorado; James Becofske, Thailand; Dennis Becofske, Marengo, Illinois; Amy (Steve) Conrad, Lake Villa, Illinois; Joseph Becofske, Lakewood, Colorado; Marianne (Mike) Engels, Naperville, Illinois; Peter (Jen) Becofske, Littleton, Colorado; and Leslie’s daughter Erin (Misty) Dickinson, Riverview, Florida; and his sister-in-law Rita Nowak, Chicago, Illinois. He is also survived by 10 Grandchildren. Services and burial will be held in Chicago.
