LIGHTSEY – Franklin D. Lightsey, 80, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2013. Mr. Lightsey was born June 11, 1932 in Sumter County, FL and moved to the Yulee area in 1969 from Jacksonville, FL. Most recently he resided in Fernandina Beach and at a river home in Madison, FL. He was of the Pentecostal faith. Mr. Lightsey was a Korean War Veteran serving with the U. S. Army. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved the Lord and was well known as a man of integrity. He enjoyed fishing and camping. He was predeceased by a son, Danny Lightsey; wife, Verna Lightsey; seven sisters; a brother and by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Jan Lightsey of Fernandina Beach, FL; his children, Richard Lightsey of Chester, FL, Melanie Lightsey-Barlow of Fernandina Beach,FL, Kelly Lightsey of Chester, FL, Grace Roe of Bradenton, FL; his step children, Tommy Aberson of Jacksonville, FL, Rebecca Edgy of Yulee, FL and Martha Aberson of Chester, FL; eight grandchildren, Lisa, Robert, Nicki, Rebecca, Laura, Andrea, Danny and Elijah; and three great grandchildren, Sarah, Shyla, Hannah. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, in the Stephens Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home with Pastors Jerry and Vicki White officiating. Interment will follow in Green Pine Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial donations be made to Freedom’s Way Ministries, P. O. Box 8097, Jacksonville, FL 32239.

Marian Elizabeth (Taylor) Forns, 89, Isle of Palms Lane, Amelia Island, FL, formerly of Key West, FL, passed away in her sleep Thursday, March 21, 2013, at the Morris Center for Caring in Jacksonville, FL. She was the widow of the late Evelio Forns, who she married in 1945, and who passed away in 2008. Mrs. Forns was the daughter of the late Chief William A. Taylor, USN, and the late Myrtis Lowe Taylor who was a native of Green Turtle Key in the Bahamas. She grew up during the Great Depression in the isolation and bliss of the Florida Keys and graduated from Key West High School in 1940. During World War II, she was a telephone operator and later became office manager and executive secretary to the General Manager of the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority which provided fresh water from the Florida mainland to the Florida Keys. Following her retirement, she and her late husband volunteered and assisted with the Key West Little League baseball program. Mrs. Forns lived in Key West for 81 years, before relocating to Fernandina Beach in 2004, where she continued to develop many new friendships which she cherished. She was a member of the Gospel Chapel in Key West and the Bible Baptist Church in Fernandina Beach. Survivors include: her children, Judith Ann (Robert) Hutcheson, Charlotte, NC, Lawrence Evelio (Libby) Forns, Fernandina Beach, and Anthony Scott (Susan) Forns, Louisville, KY; her grandchildren, Robert, Craig, Brian, and Brett Hutcheson, Jill Saiz, Veronica Wold, Lawrence E. Forns, Jr., Peter Duke Forns, Ashley Forns, Tiffany Amburgey, and Taylor E. Forns; her great-grandchildren, Brandon, Vanessa, Donald, Jill, Megan, Gabrielle, Steven, and Victoria; two nieces, Barbara (Bruce) McGarey , Key West, and Nancy Page, Sanford, FL; and her life-long friend and high school classmate, Ms. Jessie Watkins, Key West. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 26, at 11 A.M. at the Bible Baptist Church, 820 South 14th Street in Fernandina Beach with the Reverend A. “Red” DelRio, Pastor and Reverend Frank A. Shiver officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11 A.M. Tuesday, with fellowship following the services at the church. Burial will be on Thursday, March 28, in the family plot in the Key West Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice of Northeast Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257

He was born August 23, 1944, in High Point, NC and made his home in Williston, FL for the past 40 years before coming to live with his family in Fernandina Beach. Mr. Allred was a Veteran of the U. S. Navy. He loved the Lord and was a lover of animals and the outdoors, and all of God’s creatures. He was truly a kind and loving man. He is survived by his son, Daniel Wayne Allred of Moneta, VA; a daughter, Linda Lorraine Athey and son in law Clinton Lee Athey, of Fernandina Beach; four grandchildren, Amanda, Brittany, Kristina and Chelsey; a great grandchild, London; and his former spouse and friend for life, Linda JoAnn Adams. He loved going to the flea markets, and visiting with all of his friends. Services will be private. He will be missed very dearly by all.

Susan Jaquith Hutchinson

Susan Jaquith Hutchinson of Isle of Springs, Maine and Fernandina Beach, Florida passed away on June 16, 2012 surrounded by her family at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. Susan was 70 years old and battled cancer for three years.
Daughter of Eleanor and Donald Jaquith, Susan was born on September 18, 1941. She grew up as part of a large family on the north shore of Boston, Massachusetts. Susan graduated from Beverly High School in 1959. After high school she attended Nasson College in Springvale, Maine and graduated with a degree in English in 1963. While attending Nasson College she met her husband of 49 years Albert N. Hutchinson of Lynnfield, Massachusetts.
After college, Susan moved to New York City and worked for Chase Manhattan Bank. She then moved to Connecticut in 1968 where she began raising a family and became deeply involved in the community. Susan served as a volunteer firewoman, a member of the planning and zoning board, and participated on the board of selectman eventually serving as the first selectman of Weston, Connecticut for four years. Susan and her husband moved to Florida in the fall of 1986 where Susan obtained her real estate broker’s license and worked in the real estate industry for several years.

Upon retirement, Susan focused on her passions in life which were the arts and the community. Susan mastered the techniques of various artistic mediums including watercolors, photography and most recently fiber arts, for which she recently won a national award for her work. Susan was a leader and served as the past-regent of the Amelia Island chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and she served as the Florida State American Heritage Chairperson in 2011. She was also President of the Amelia Island historical society.
Susan enjoyed gardening, knitting, reading, travelling, boating, summers at the Isle of Springs and spending time with her family and friends.
Susan is survived by her husband Alan, her son Scott and daughter-in-law Dina, her daughter Julie and son-in-law Joel, her five grandchildren Will, Avery, Tucker, Myles and Max, as well as three sisters, a brother and the family dog Alex.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 30th at 2pm at the Boothbay Railway Village Meeting House in Boothbay, Maine. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium of Derry, NH is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the International Mesothelioma Program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts (https://giving.brighamandwomens.org/IMP) or the Isle of Springs Association Memorial Fund, Isle of Springs, Maine.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 1 in the Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Alan Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mrs. Yancey was born December 29, 1923 in Fitzgerald to the late Thomas W. and Annie Belle Hadaway Harrell. She attended Fitzgerald High School and had lived the past three years in Fernandina Beach, FL. Mrs. Yancey was a homemaker and a former cashier for Allen’s Supermarket, Colonial Store and Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store. She was a member of Five Points Baptist Church in Fernandina Beach, FL and the Golden Band Sunday School Class and a former member of the First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald. Mrs. Yancey enjoyed eating at Sonny’s Barbeque.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janice & George Berninger of Fernandina Beach, FL; son, Ronnie Williams of Fitzgerald; 2 step children, 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry L. Williams and Lawrence A. Yancey and 1 brother, Robert Elam Harrell.

MUNSON – Barbara E. Munson (nee Green), R. N., Lt. Col., U.S.A.F., Ret. passed away Wednesday morning, October 26, 2011 at the age of 64.
Ms. Munson was born January 7, 1947 in Middletown, NY and moved to Fernandina Beach, FL in 2003 from Eastford, CT.
She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church of Fernandina Beach and served with the choir, the Newcomer’s Club and as a lector. She was also a member of the “Red Hat Society.” Ms. Munson had a distinguished career with the U. S. Air Force retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. She also served with the New Hampshire Air National Guard. She was an extremely skilled registered nurse.
Ms. Munson was predeceased by her husband, Jon Munson who passed away in 2001.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Munson Scranton (Jason) of Woodstock Valley, CT; a step daughter, Tamara Munson of Framingham, MA; her mother, Thelma G. Green of Middletown, NY; four brothers, John R. Green (Marilyn) of Amelia Island, FL, Michael K. Green of Slate Hill, NY, William J. Green (Patricia), also of Slate Hill, and James A. Green(Karen) of Westtown, NY; a sister, Mary Bartle (Guy) of Hawaii; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in Putnam, CT under the direction of Smith & Walker Funeral Home. Interment will be in St. Phillips Cemetery, also in Putnam, CT.
